Puvungna Plaza

Puvungna Plaza is a public artwork within a suburban retail plaza. The name Puvungna acknowledges the Native American Gabrielino/Tongva village once located near the site. The plaza is anchored by a large, upright marble stone and a large concrete pillar excavated from the original retail center’s foundation. Special features of the artwork include a small grassy amphitheater, a variety of columns and an archaeological vault displaying objects found on-site. The plaza subtly references mythic, historic and contemporary gathering spaces while providing a unique identity for the Los Altos MarketCenter.
