The Arts Council for Long Beach is excited to announce new updates to our Artist Registry—a vital tool for connecting the public, businesses, and event organizers with local creative talent.

To better support live programming during events like the Downtown Long Beach Art + Design Walk, we’ve added three new searchable categories:

  • Event Vendors
  • Busking
  • DJs

Whether you’re looking for a DJ to energize your space, a street performer to bring in foot traffic, or a local vendor to enhance your next community event, our expanded Artist Registry makes it easier than ever to find the right artist for the job.

💡 What’s New?

Thanks to feedback from our partners at the Downtown Long Beach Alliance, we’ve streamlined the process of connecting artists with businesses. Rather than serving as the go-between, the Alliance is now encouraging participating businesses to browse and contact artists directly through the Artist Registry.

To support this shift, ArtsLB has introduced new filterable categories so users can easily search for artists who are available for live events.

This isn’t just a tech upgrade—it’s a community investment.

👥 Who’s Who: Understanding the New Categories

Here’s a breakdown of the new additions to the Artist Registry and how they can help businesses enhance their programming and visibility:

🛍️ Event Vendor

Definition: An event vendor is an artist, artisan, or creative entrepreneur who sets up a booth or display to sell handmade goods, original artwork, crafts, or creative services during public events.
Why It’s Good for Business: Event vendors attract foot traffic and create a marketplace atmosphere that encourages browsing and purchasing, helping businesses increase visibility and keeping visitors engaged longer near your storefront.

🎶 Busker

Definition: A busker is a live street performer—such as a musician, dancer, juggler, poet, or visual performer—who entertains in public spaces, often adding vibrancy and energy to community events.
Why It’s Good for Business: Buskers naturally draw crowds and create a lively, welcoming environment that entices attendees to stop, listen, and explore nearby shops and restaurants.

🎧 DJ

Definition: A DJ (Disc Jockey) is a musical artist who curates and mixes recorded music to create atmosphere and energy during events. DJs may perform live or provide background soundscapes that enhance an event’s vibe.
Why It’s Good for Business: A DJ can transform the ambiance of your space, drawing in new audiences and creating a festive, brand-aligned atmosphere that encourages people to stay, shop, and socialize.
