LA Transit–The Cynical History of City Planning (a poetry workshop)

November 11, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

LA Transit–The Cynical History of City Planning (a poetry workshop)

DSTL Arts invites you to come and discover the overlooked history of a cynical man who created a blueprint for exclusionary architecture and city planning which has left an indelible mark on today’s transportation system and the very fabric of our society.

This creative writing class will be led by poet/artist Rebecca (Roots) Gonzalez, and with her help, you will be inspired to write poetry reflecting on the untold stories of LA’s transportation systems and your neighborhood’s development.

Space is limited; please RSVP now at https://DSTLArts.eventbrite.com

As part of our 2023–2024 Creative Impact workshop series, this session encourages all participants to consider the history and impact of our local transit systems, urban planning, climate change, and more with the goal of creating new artworks that inspire our community members and leaders to be proactive in increasing public transit rider safety, reducing pollution, and cleaner, safer neighborhoods for all.

To learn more about our “LA Transit” workshop series and anthology, as well as our sister workshop series and anthology, “ReWild LA”, visit https://DSTLArts.org/creativeimpact.
