An event every week that begins at 1:00 pm on Sunday, Friday and Saturday, repeating until July 7, 2019
C Gallery on Broadway is featuring the colorful watercolors of local artist Debbie Lewis accompanied by the surreal sculptures of Paula Collins in a new exhibit, opening on Saturday, June 8 from 6 to 9 pm and the show continues through Sunday, July 7.
Debbie Lewis is a Long Beach-based watercolor artist who has been specializing in Long Beach-themed paintings since 2008. The iconic buildings and landmarks of downtown and the waterfront, including the marinas, oil islands and coastline and iconic building profiles, immediately caught her attention and have been her main subject matter for over a decade. She loves fun and vibrant colors and bold value contrasts – both of which have become recognizable features of her work.
Paula Collins has been working and creating ceramic figurative sculpture for over 25 years. The foundation of her work stems from spending many working years on a passenger railroad, meeting many different people and characters as she traveled across the country. Listening to hours of stories about family lore from her customers would become the jumping off point for her own storytelling. Her interest in surrealism developed the more she experimented with the figure in clay sculpture and she has been showing her work and winning accolades at fine art shows across the US.
The Gallery is located at 441 E Broadway in Long Beach, CA 90802.
