Slanguage will host a series of art classes on Saturdays co-taught by Slanguage’s co-founder Karla Diaz. These classes will feature sculpture, drawing, painting, and mixed media, and will follow Slanguage’s arts pedagogy anchored in critical thinking, social responsibility, and community building. This series of workshops is for adults.
This week’s workshop focuses on understanding emotional change through sculpture. Participants will be guided into making their own animation inspired by emotions. This week’s workshop will be led by Adam Luft.
Adam Luft is a Southern-California based artist, designer, and educator. He has experience developing book covers for Red Hen Press of Pasadena and acting as a creative driving force for Trend Offset Printing of Los Alamitos. His artistic oeuvre is shaped by experiences and studies; often exploring classic struggles of man versus society and himself. These struggles are projected through a lens of absurdism, influenced by Camus and Kafka, and focus on themes of isolation and a search for meaning. As an educator, he seeks to imbue students with the confidence to create independently in a meaningful way. He is a firm believer that skills and cultural knowledge imparted in the classroom can open opportunities for serendipitous moments of creativity beyond the arts.
Slanguage is a socially engaged artist collective hosting a series of virtual family workshops at Compound, focused on the power of creativity. This series aims to create a fun, safe, and creative space to provoke engagement, new ways of thinking, empowerment, and community connection.
