The Rap Contest announces a $5,000 Rap Competition in Long Beach, CA. The Rap Contest is an original rap song competition series started in 2010 by Sellassie as a platform for independent hip-hop artists to connect with new audiences. The Rap Contest is the place where raps come to life on stage and a fun show where you can see the hottest emcees on the rise.
The Rap Contest has visited 20+ U.S. cities from coast to coast including Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Hartford, Orlando, Oakland and Seattle; surpassing $104,000 in cash prize monies awarded to independent artists.
The Rap Contest is fast paced, exciting, entertaining and most of all FUN!!! The Rap Contest is innovative, authentic and is consistently packing clubs for new music. The Rap Contest is a single elimination contest, where independent artists compete for a $1,000.00 cash prize with original songs.
The Rap Contest has produced 133 successful shows to date and partnered with several local and regional promo companies, radio stations, studios and organizations. The Rap Contest has booked over 1500 talented and emerging hip hop artists from across the country that have performed in front of industry professional and celebrity judges. The Rap Contest is independent hip-hop, it invests in artists on the rise and respects and contributes to the culture of hip-hop.
The Rap Contest creator, host and producer Sellassie, is the world’s first higherground hip-hop artist; he is a social justice activist, entrepreneur, event producer and pioneer.
