Long Beach Modern Quilt Guild’s exhibition is made possible by the generosity of Alpert JCC and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts. Our textile collection will hang in the Zena and Paul Gatov Gallery throughout the month of May and will be accessible and free to the public. This is a rare opportunity to view this collection together and we encourage everyone to come and experience modern quilting from the LBMQG’s perspective.
In this showcase, each quilt is a unique piece that tells a story through design, pattern, color, and texture. The quilter, or group of quilters, uses a variety of techniques, images, symbols, and styles to arrange and manipulate the fabric into something new and beautiful to behold. Every piece was handmade with the creative spirit, thousands of stitches, hundreds of hours, and the author’s personal narrative. LBMQG welcomes everyone to experience the fiber arts with a new perspective.
LBMQG membership includes designers, award winners and artists with works displayed previously at national shows such as Road to California and the Modern Quilt Guild’s Quiltcon. The guild’s annual community charity quilt, “Every Which Way,” was honored at the 2021 Orange County Fair with top category and division prizes for Modern and Art Quilts, the Staff Choice Award and the Special Industry Award.
