The Hmong New Year festival is a family event celebrating all the good things in the past year and hopes for all good things in the year to come. The opening ceremony passing through the gates into the new year and the cutting of the ribbon by an honored elder begins at 10 am, followed by a children’s parade, and welcoming remarks by dignitaries. The center stage presents students and master musicians, dancers, and poets from Long Beach, Ca and the count. Food, craft booths and sports add to the festivities. Along with the other activities, the ball toss ritual and hundreds of people in traditional clothes invites you into Hmong culture.
