Join lifetime Long Beach native, Max Evans, at the release party for his debut novel. Described as the most Long Beach novel of 2022, ESCAPE TO BUTTERFLY AVE follows the challenges of a single father facing adversity during the Covid pandemic to maintain an emotional connection with his infant daughter. Stylistically, each chapter is an adaptation of different Hip Hop songs.
MAX EVANS is a product of the creative writing departments of LBCC and CSULB (MFA). From the sales of his first book, WHERE’S POPS?, Evans continues to fund the MVP Award Scholarship (Most Valuable Pops) for fathers attending local community colleges. He is an award-winning author who also heads the social media platform, Long Beach Writer, which promotes all things related to writing in our city.
Joining the stage is poet HIRAM SIMS, executive director of the COMMUNITY LITERATURE INITIATIVE who also runs the SIMS LIBRARY OF POETRY, the largest of its kind in California.
Following the reading party is a deejay and an afterparty nearby. More details announced at the release party.
