More commonly known as North Long Beach, City of Long Beach Council District 9, is home to neighborhoods: College Square, Starr King, Hamilton, McKinley, Powell, Coolidge Triangle, De Forest Park, Houghton Park, Grant, Ramona Park, and St. Francis. Within its boundaries, the Arts Council for Long Beach has identified 30 public artworks. Most notably, the Veteran’s Memorial Mural off of Harding St. or artist MER Young’s “Untitled” off of Artesia Blvd.
Councilmember Rex Richardson currently serves district 9 and has collaborated with the Arts Council for Long Beach and demonstrated his commitment to bringing arts and culture to Long Beach Residents through three iterations of the Uptown Creative Corridor Challenge.
