My name is Steve Brosnac, and I’m an artist living in Long Beach Ca. After 26 years as a UPS driver, I had a career ending injury. I started drawing with charcoal in December 2015 and painting in the spring of 2016 as art therapy for severe, chronic pain and deep depression following several major life-changing events. My self-taught, artistic meditation is the only way for me to fully escape physical pain, and it buffers depression. As such, it has become my life’s passion. For the first time, I feel I’m doing what I was meant to do. The art I remember is that which is created with passion. The chills you feel when art draws you in, sometimes making you weep…those chills mean you connect with the joy, lust, heartache or other emotions that powered every brushstroke. Everyone has life story and unique perspective that, when shared, can broaden our view of the world. Art is but one of the ways we can share what we see.
My hope is that you can know me through my art, and that it might inspire you!

Artist Work

"Pilar, a Tribute to Hemingway" (2018)
This piece draws from my love of the ocean, and my great respect for the author, Ernest Hemingway. His fishing vessel was named, Pilar. He also used that name for his 3rd wife as a term of endearment.

Sailing the High Seas (2017)
This is my first completed oil painting, and was done shortly after losing my mother to suicide. I attempted to convey a feeling of rising above tragedy.

Ride It! (2016)
This is my first wave painting, which was a 16x20 acrylic on canvas. My goal was to recrete the Hawaiian surf.

"Consternation, a Dali Tribute" (2017)
This is the third installment in my Masters Series. Dali is among my favorite artists. I included many hidden messages in this piece that are symbolic of this great artist.
