The Arts Council for Long Beach’s annual State of the Arts is the prominent arts event of the year. In partnership with the Office of the Mayor, this special occasion brings together residents, the creative community and city leaders to celebrate the arts in Long Beach. In addition to announcing new projects, every year the Arts Council recognizes local arts excellence by honoring residents who make an impact in the arts and culture of Long Beach. Arts awards, such as the James H. Ackerman Philanthropist Award, identify people whose work supports a city with a healthy arts ecology. Our celebration recognizes artists, performers, educators and administrators who work everyday to foster creativity, enliven communities and enable a thriving arts city.

This year’s celebration is presented by Millworks and will take place at The Packard (205 E. Anaheim St.) on Thursday, October 5 from 6–9 p.m.
