October 19 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

|Multi-Day Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 10:00am, repeating until October 21, 2018

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19 – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 21

We’re thrilled to welcome international fiber artist Jane Callendar to Los Angeles for our first master workshop. This three day immersive class will explore shibori and indigo techniques. With three vats of varying strengths, students will be able to experiment with shades from the deepest midnight to azures blues.

Techniques will include hand stitching, sewing machine stitch, itajime (which is folded cloth placed between boards). wrapping, binding, and reserving. Each of these approaches results in different forms of pattern making, from strongly geometric to sinuous and hippie-esque. TBD on early student response we may work up other dye colors.

Fees are not refundable, but are transferable. Fee for non-members includes annual membership at Madder level.
