Hmong New Year Festival is a two day annual family event at the Golden Grove area of El Dorado Park. The festival starts with cutting the ribbon to open the gate into the new year, followed by dignitary greetings, then traditional arts performances all day long at the center stage. We feature the students at our Hmong Cultural Arts Program at Homeland. Performances include master dancers and musicians from all over the state.
Activities include food booths, craft booths, and sports competitions. Many of the 1500 attendees wear the their exquisite traditional clothes layered with applique, embroidery, and tinkling silver coins. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the recreation of celebrations in the Hmong mountain villages. Enter on Spring St east of Studebaker Rd. Park Fee is $7/car.
Generous funding includes the Arts Council for Long Beach, City of Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine, Crane Widows and Children’s Fund, Alliance for California Traditional Arts, Xiong Electric, Hmong Families and Friends.
